Ok so let me just say first off that this is PURE speculation on my part based on the all the little bits or information and rumors we have been hearing about Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens & Episode VIII. Please take this with a grain of salt so I could be very wrong, but here we go.
Many speculate that Kylo Ren and the Knights of Ren are hunting Jedi and the ultimate goal of the Knights of Ren are to resurrect the long gone Sith. Now here is where I think it's gets interesting. Based on the rumors heard so far, Kylo Ren is going around the galaxy collecting Sith artifacts. One of the artifacts we know is Darth Vader's helmet as we have seen it in the trailer.

The artifacts are probably required because of the connection that they have with the previous Sith owner in order to bring them back to life. I also believe that Kylo Ren has a personal stake in this crusade because Anakin Skywalker is his grandfather! Yes grandfather! Kylo is a Solo and an obsession with his grandfather. But I do believe that ultimately Kylo and the Knights of Ren are being manipulated by an unknown party. Darth Plagueis maybe?
As told in The Tradegy of Darth Plagueis by Palpatine "so powerful and so wise he could use the Force to influence the midi-chlorians to create life," and even save others from dying. "He became so powerful, the only thing that he was afraid of was losing his power." As Palpatine was telling the story to Anankin Skywalker he went on to say Plagueis's apprentice killed him in his sleep.

But what if Palpatine who was Darth Plagueis apprentice didn't kill Plagueis? What if he wasn't able to? What if Plagueis had some sort of plan in case of his timely demise to one day return? Because think about it for a second, why now? Why would there be a disturbance in the force 30 years after the fall of Darth Sidius and Darth Varder? I think that the title of episode VII: "The Force Awakens" means that some sort of event or occurrence has happened, creating a great disturbance in the force, also affecting all that are connected. And what could be that disturbance? Maybe the resurrection of one of the most powerful Sith of all time: Darth Plagueis.
Just recently two rumors are circulating the web first reported by Making Star Wars. The first rumor is that actor Hayden Christensen, who portrayed Anakin Skywalker in the prequels is in Rian Johnson’s Star Wars: Episode VIII. The second rumor is that Darth Vader will make an appearance in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Coincidence? Probably, probably not. Again this is all speculation.
